Requirements / Qualifications
Education and Experience: High School diploma or equivalent and or any combination of education and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. Knowledge of: • Basic communication skills • Reading, speaking and writing in English, Spanish and/or Mandarin. • Basic math skills • English, Spanish and/or Mandarin grammar and composition.
Monrovia Unified School District (MUSD) interpreter written and oral examinations will be administered in order to ensure proficiency in the language. After passing a written and oral examination, candidates will need to provide a valid TB clearance and obtain background clearance from the California Department of Justice and FBI. This position is distinguished by the ability to translate the spoken or written words and expressions from one language into another in a range of settings. Interpreters work with live speech and must have a high degree of fluency in the languages they translate and an understanding of the subject matter.
