  • This is a salaried, non-represented, professional-technical position. Screening will begin June 23, 2025. Salary rate is for 2025-26 year, beginning September 1.

TITLE:                                    Custodial Supervisor

 

REPORTS TO:                     Director of Facilities

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Custodial Supervisor is responsible for overseeing custodial operations. This includes scheduling, training, evaluating, and supporting custodial staff to ensure facilities are maintained to high standards of cleanliness and safety. The Supervisor will also coordinate custodial activities with other departments and may be required to provide direct custodial coverage when necessary.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma required; technical degree in general craft or maintenance preferred
  • Minimum five years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Experience in a school environment working with students, staff, and the public preferred

 

Special Requirements

  • Valid First Aid/CPR certification within 30 days of hire (District provided)
  • Successful completion of Washington State Patrol and FBI fingerprint clearance
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. per I-9 requirements
  • Completion of HIV/HBV and District new hire training within 60 days of hire (District provided)
  • Flexibility to work extended hours as needed
  • Clean five-year driving abstract and excellent driving record

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, parents, and the public
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of District information

 

  • Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Google Workspace and smartphone technology
  • Culturally competent; experience working with diverse populations
  • Exercise sound judgment and make decisions in alignment with District policies
  • Resolve conflicts tactfully and foster positive work relations
  • Organize tasks, set priorities, and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Dependable and punctual attendance
  • Adhere to all applicable laws, policies, and procedures

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Personnel and Departmental Management

  • Supervise custodial operations, including hiring recommendations, scheduling, training, and evaluations
  • Coordinate substitute coverage and manage timesheets and staff assignments
  • Communicate with building administrators to assess custodial needs and performance
  • Conduct regular site visits to ensure compliance with District standards
  • Train and onboard custodial staff and substitutes; develop and deliver training content
  • Address performance issues with corrective actions and consistent feedback
  • Provide custodial coverage during staff absences when substitutes are unavailable

Operational Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement work schedules and custodial workflows
  • Monitor custodial budgets and ensure spending aligns with allocations
  • Prepare reports and maintain documentation of departmental activities
  • Evaluate equipment, supplies, and labor needs; recommend improvements
  • Respond to emergencies to address immediate safety concerns
  • Coordinate trash and recycling services across District buildings
  • Manage furniture and custodial support for events and special activities
  • Support the Director of Facilities and serve as acting lead when needed
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Use of a computer and office equipment for extended periods
  • Frequent use of hands for handling materials and equipment
  • Physical agility for walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, lifting, and reaching
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs. and push/pull up to 100 lbs.
  • Close and distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus
  • Verbal communication and manual dexterity required
  • Frequent standing, walking, and driving
  • Work in varied environments, including indoor/outdoor conditions and inclement weather
  • Exposure to moderate noise levels and physically demanding tasks

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:

This position is a non-represented position. The position will work 8.0 hours per day, 260 days per year. Salary and benefits per the current salary schedule. Employee is required to complete all mandatory district training by the specified deadlines.

 

EVALUATION PROCEDURES:

Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with District policies and procedures.
