Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and health histories to determine individual needs.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following prescribed protocols while ensuring patient safety through aseptic techniques.
- Manage airway support devices such as ventilators and perform advanced procedures like suturing and catheterization as required.
- Coordinate patient care plans with multidisciplinary teams, including case management, physical therapy, and physicians to optimize outcomes.
- Document all patient interactions thoroughly using EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems like Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide education on disease management, medication administration, nutrition, and lifestyle modifications tailored to each patient's condition.
- Assist in emergency situations by performing basic life support (BLS), airway management, and triage procedures in fast-paced environments such as emergency rooms or trauma centers.
Experience
- Valid registered nurse license with current state certification.
- Proven experience in diverse clinical settings including hospital medicine, ICU (Intensive Care Unit), emergency medicine, or critical care transport.
- Familiarity with advanced medical procedures such as cardiology interventions (e.g., cardiac catheterization), dialysis care, or trauma medicine.
- Experience working with specialized populations such as pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health patients, or individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Knowledge of ICD coding (International Classification of Diseases), CPT coding (Current Procedural Terminology), and medical documentation standards.
- Hands-on expertise with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner for accurate charting and patient record management.
- Demonstrated ability to perform complex procedures including IV insertion, phlebotomy, specimen collection/processing, and sterile processing techniques.
- Prior experience in long-term care facilities such as nursing homes or assisted living communities is highly valued.
- Strong understanding of infection control practices and HIPAA compliance standards to ensure patient confidentiality and safety.
