Production Technician (Part-Time)

Who We Are

Monroe Mushroom Co. is a Rochester-based gourmet mushroom company specializing in fresh gourmet mushrooms and mushroom-based products, including mushroom coffee, extracts, and teas. As a growing small business, we're committed to producing high-quality products and building a team of people who take pride in their work.

Who We're Looking For

This is an entry-level position. Previous food manufacturing experience is not required—we'll train the right person. This position requires someone who can work independently for much of the day without constant supervision. Once trained, you'll be trusted to keep production moving, notice when something isn't right, and communicate issues before they become problems.

We're looking for someone who enjoys hands-on work, is highly organized, pays close attention to detail, and takes pride in producing consistent, high-quality products.

Initially, this position focuses on packaging and assembling our current product line. As Monroe Mushroom Co. grows and invests in new equipment, this role will expand into producing many of our products from scratch.

We're looking for someone who wants to grow alongside the company and become an integral part of our manufacturing operation.

Physical Requirements

Applicants should be comfortable:

• Standing for extended periods.
• Lifting up to 40–50 pounds when needed.
• Working with food ingredients and powders.
• Using scales, heat sealers, label printers, and other production equipment.
• Performing repetitive tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
• Maintaining a clean and organized production environment.

During Training You'll Learn To

• Blend and package mushroom coffee.
• Package mushroom teas.
• Bottle mushroom tinctures.
• Package fresh gourmet mushrooms.
• Print and apply product labels.
• Accurately weigh and portion products.
• Maintain inventory and notify management when supplies need to be reordered.
• Follow production recipes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Maintain food safety and cleanliness standards.
• Perform basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.

Schedule & Growth Opportunity

This position starts as part-time (up to 20 hours per week) with flexible scheduling.

As Monroe Mushroom Co. continues to expand, this position will evolve beyond packaging.

Future responsibilities may include:

• Producing mushroom extract powders.
• Manufacturing mushroom tinctures from raw materials.
• Dehydrating mushrooms.
• Producing mushroom jerky.
• Preparing gourmet mushroom soup kits.
• Developing and manufacturing new mushroom-based products.
• Operating new food processing equipment.
• Helping improve manufacturing systems and workflows.
• Training future production employees.
