Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and organized Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team! Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and assist with check-in and check-out processes.
- Schedule appointments using medical scheduling software such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth, ensuring optimal clinic flow.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and handle billing inquiries related to Medicare, Medicaid, or private insurance plans.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR systems) including eClinicalWorks, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar platforms; review documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Assist with medical coding tasks such as CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9/ICD coding for billing purposes while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Answer multi-line phone systems professionally using proper phone etiquette; direct calls appropriately and take detailed messages.
- Maintain organized medical records, file documents accurately, and ensure confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA standards.
- Support clinical staff by preparing intake forms, updating patient information, and managing clinic supplies.
- Conduct appointment reminders via phone or electronic communication to improve patient attendance rates.
- Assist with administrative support tasks including data entry, typing reports, and managing office correspondence.
Experience
- Previous experience working as a Medical Receptionist or in a healthcare front desk setting is required.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or similar platforms is essential.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, CPT coding, and medical billing practices is highly desirable.
- Experience with insurance verification processes including Medicare and Medicaid is preferred.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced clinic environment.
- Excellent customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and clerical expertise in filing and documentation review.
