Eligibility for Florida certification is required. FL certification in School Counseling (grades PK-12) is a prerequisite for teaching in field. How to Become FL Certified in School Counseling (grades PK-12)

• Out-of-State Certification: If you hold an unexpired, out-of-state, professional educator certificate in this subject area, please apply for Florida reciprocity.
• Master's Degree in School Counseling: Commonly accepted Master's degree (or higher degree) majors for a Florida temporary educator certificate include: School Guidance and Counseling, School Counseling, and School Guidance.

If hired out-of-field for School Counseling (grades PK-12), you must provide documentation to the Certification Office with completion of six college credits towards a Master's degree (or higher) in School Counseling prior to the end of the school year in which you are recommended out-of-field. You may remain in compliance by providing documentation to the Certification Office showing completion of six college credits each school year toward obtaining the out-of-field subject until added to your FL educator certificate.
