What are the responsibilities and job description for the Invasive Species Technician position at Monroe County Rolling Hills – Sparta, WI?

Do you enjoy working outside and have a passion for natural resources? If so, the Monroe County Forestry & Parks Department is hiring an Invasive Species Technician for a total of up to 480 hours. Successful candidates will have a high school diploma with a minimum of two years post-secondary education pursuing a degree in a natural resources field or equivalent experience in natural resource work. Experience with surveys, plant identification, Avenza Maps, ArcMap and chainsaw operation is desired. Successful candidate may need to provide reliable transportation with reimbursed mileage. A valid driver’s license and certified pesticide applicator license is required.

Our Invasive Species Technician will complete an invasive species inventory on the Monroe County Forest. This will include surveying, plant identification and mapping invasive species. Our technician will collect and record data, identify priority areas and complete herbicide treatments in these areas.

Hiring salary is $18-21/hr. depending on experience. This is a limited term opportunity.
