Position Title: Physical Education Teacher Newport, MI 48166

Location: Sodt Elementary
Reports To: Building Principal
Salary: According to Master Contract with the Jefferson Education Association
Job Goal: Under the direct supervision of the school principal, provides an education program for elementary students.
Provides effective leadership that will ensure a positive learning environment and will stress the importance of academic
achievement. Demonstrates a high degree of ethics, professionalism, human relations and is a positive role model for all
students.
Qualifications:
Must possess a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with the appropriate grade level certification. Physical Education
endorsement preferred.
Role:
Create a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for all students.
Instruct students in physical education activities.
Teach basic motor skills.
Encourage sportsmanship, cooperation, and listening skills.
Model and reinforce classroom routines and expectations.
Adapt activities for different abilities and learning needs.
Supervise students closely to ensure safety at all times.
Communicate clearly with classroom teachers and families when needed.
Set up and safely use age-appropriate PE equipment.
Use games and movement to build confidence and enjoyment of physical activity.
