Responsibilities
Assists the GIS Coordinator with technical, analytical, and cartographic support of the Monroe County Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Division. The position is responsible for basic GIS data management and quality control, including creating, editing, updating geospatial data layers, maintaining GIS databases, coverages, and linkages to various databases, and maintaining and developing web applications and interfaces. The GIS Technician will also serve as the point of contact for data requests, map creation, and software updates/upgrades.
Assists County GIS users as needed, including assessing user needs and developing applications, analyzing feature data and attributes for County departments, and diagnosing and fixing software problems.
Constructs and maintains SQL scripts and models for automating geospatial workflows and relational database queries.
Qualifications
Baccalaureate degree in geography or related field and 2 years of GIS experience or equivalent combination of education and previous work experience. Possession of or ability to obtain and retain possession of certification as a GIS professional is preferred.
