What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deputy Recorder position at Monroe County Government?
Position Summary:
Receives documents over the counter, through the mail and email as well as electronically, including but not limited to, mortgages, deeds, easements, liens, releases and assignments. Examines documents for completeness and properly records each document following statutory requirements of each. Proofreads all documents prior to entry into department database.
Assists members of the public at the counter, over the phone and through email, including asking questions to gather information regarding a request, pulling necessary ledger books and searching files, answering questions, photocopying documents, and directing to appropriate individual or office.
Receives and receipts recording fees and monies for photocopying documents. Posts the fees charged on the documents and in database. Balances monies received in computer software against cash receipt and daily balance reports.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED, some college preferred.
- Basic knowledge of, or ability to learn, legal requirements for the recording of property documents, with general working knowledge of County government.
- Knowledge of and ability to operate computer software used by the Recorder's Office. This position involves a lot of data entry.
- Ability to perform the statutory duties as prescribed for the County Recorder’s Office as authorized by the Recorder.
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with coworkers, computer and software users, other County departments, elected officials, vendors and the public, including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities and disabilities.
- Ability to provide public access to or maintain the confidentiality of department information and records according to State requirements.
- Ability to comply with all employer and department policies and work rules, including, but not limited to, attendance, safety, drug-free workplace and personal conduct.
Salary: 35 hours per week salaried position, COMOT B Classification. Starting salary of $40,787 with annual cost of living analysis, full pay transparency with stepped increases at 1/3/8 years and beyond.
