ResponsibilitiesÂ
Childcare Student Employees play a vital role in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children, ensuring compliance with all New York State Department of Social Services regulations and the Childcare Program's guidelines.
I. Creating an Engaging Learning Environment

Actively assist in implementing our instructional programs and educational activities.

Provide direct care and supervision for children during all indoor and outdoor activities, including independently overseeing small groups as needed.

Support children with their personal care and self-care routines.

Help maintain a clean, organized, and inviting classroom space.

Assist with preparing and organizing learning materials.

Offer creative input for planning classroom activities and broader Center events.

Contribute to maintaining a positive and disciplined classroom atmosphere.

Strive to understand and connect with each child as an individual.
II. Effective Communication & Collaboration

Develop positive relationships with parents and guardians, knowing them by name and engaging in constructive communication.

Work collaboratively and respectfully with all Center staff and administration to ensure seamless operations.
III. Professional Conduct & Growth

Diligently follow daily schedules and established routines.

Actively participate in required training sessions and staff meetings to enhance skills.

Be a supportive and positive representative of the Center and its administration.

Demonstrate a proactive approach to professional development and continuous learning.

Consistently maintain excellent punctuality and attendance.
Required:
-
High School Diploma or equivalent.
-
Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
-
Enrollment in an early childhood education, child development, or academic program at Monroe Community College.

Demonstrated patience and a strong sense of responsibility.

Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

Ability to pass a background check and child abuse clearance, as required by New York State regulations.

CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe upon hire.
Preferred:
-
Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with young children in a supervised setting (e.g., daycare, preschool, camp, after-school program, babysitting).

Familiarity with New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) regulations related to childcare.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact positively with children, parents, and staff.

Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Flexibility and adaptability to changing daily routines and children's needs.
