About Monomoy CRE
Monomoy CRE, LLC is a subsidiary of Great Elm Group and manages a private Industrial REIT, build-to-suit development projects, and third-party construction management services. Monomoy focuses on acquiring, managing, and reporting on a diversified industrial real estate portfolio across multiple states. We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our Boston office. This individual will take ownership of property-level accounting and fund-level reporting responsibilities and will supervise a Staff Accountant.
Position Summary
The Senior Accountant will oversee accounting operations for Monomoy’s industrial REIT portfolio, including property accounting, fund-level reporting, and financial close processes. This individual will serve as a key contributor to financial reporting, cash management oversight, audit coordination, and process improvement initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Property and REIT Accounting
- Oversee day-to-day accounting for assigned properties and review work prepared by Staff Accountant.
- Ensure accurate revenue recognition, expense classification, and lease accounting treatment.
- Review rent application, tenant bill-backs, and reconciliations.
- Monitor property-level cash flow and working capital needs.
- Oversee property tax tracking and compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
- Supervise insurance tracking and compliance processes.
Fund Accounting and Financial Reporting
- Lead monthly and quarterly close processes for property and fund entities.
- Prepare and review financial statements, investor reporting packages, and supporting schedules.
- Assist with consolidated reporting at the REIT level.
- Support preparation of audit deliverables and coordinate with external auditors.
- Assist with regulatory and lender reporting as required.
Oversight and Process Improvement
- Supervise and mentor Staff Accountant.
- Enhance and streamline close processes, tax payment procedures, and cash forecasting.
- Improve internal controls and documentation across accounting functions.
- Assist in evaluating accounting treatment for acquisitions, dispositions, and development activity.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- 4 years of accounting experience; real estate, REIT, or fund accounting experience strongly preferred.
- Public accounting experience and/or CPA designation preferred.
- Strong understanding of property accounting, lease structures, and real estate reporting.
- Experience managing month-end close and financial statement preparation.
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with accounting software (Yardi experience preferred).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced investment environment.
