The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler develops safe, efficient maintenance work plans and ensures resources, materials, and schedules are aligned to support reliable operations. This role serves as the primary link between Maintenance, Operations, and supporting functions while improving preventive maintenance and equipment reliability.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Act as the main liaison between Maintenance and Operations to ensure timely, professional service.
- Review, validate, and prioritize work requests; ensure clear scope, proper authorization, and accurate equipment details.
- Plan maintenance jobs by gathering drawings, manuals, procedures, parts lists, and vendor information.
- Identify required materials, create Bills of Material, coordinate kitting, and manage critical spare usage with Stores.
- Determine contractor needs, obtain quotes, and coordinate vendor activities.
- Develop labor and cost estimates for planned work.
- Build preliminary schedules, align resources, and participate in weekly scheduling meetings with Operations.
- Communicate finalized schedules to all stakeholders and track work order progress through completion.
- Maintain CMMS records and ensure accurate asset history, labor hours, and cost data.
- Monitor backlog and support shutdown/major maintenance planning.
- Continuously improving planning and scheduling processes using feedback and performance metrics.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- 5 years in manufacturing maintenance, inventory, purchasing, or related fields.
- 3 years using CMMS systems.
- Mechanical/electrical background required; technical school or apprenticeship preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to estimate labor, materials, and skill requirements.
- Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.

- Works in a manufacturing plant and in a general office environment.
- Will be required to wear suitable Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
- May be exposed to the loud noise of production line machinery.
- May occasionally be exposed to wet, humid conditions, inclement weather, and extreme temperatures.
- May, on rare occasions, be exposed to oils, airborne particles, vibration, and the risk of electric shock.
- May, on rare occasions, be required to work near moving mechanical parts and in a highly dangerous place.
