The Opportunity
Monnit is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team in Kaysville, Utah. This is a hands-on product development role for an engineer who enjoys taking ideas from concept through prototype, validation, and scaled manufacturing. You will contribute to new product development as well as product improvements, tooling, material selection, design validation, and technical documentation.
The ideal candidate combines strong mechanical engineering fundamentals with practical design and manufacturing experience, sound judgment, and the ability to collaborate across functions. You will have an opportunity to influence design decisions and help develop products that meet customer, product, quality, manufacturing, and marketing requirements.
What You’ll Do
- Evaluate concepts and develop practical mechanical design solutions for new and existing products.
- Design products, tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing processes from early prototypes through scaled production.
- Lead mechanical design decisions across projects with varying levels of technical complexity.
- Apply engineering principles to material selection, process definition, qualification testing, and product improvement.
- Develop prototypes and models and support hands-on design validation and testing.
- Work closely with manufacturing and process engineering to resolve production issues and improve product performance, quality, and manufacturability.
- Contribute to value engineering, product improvements, sustainability initiatives, and cost-effective design solutions.
- Partner with Marketing and other stakeholders to understand customer needs (VOC) and translate them into product specifications.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, process engineering, quality, marketing, and other internal teams.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, including product and material specifications, engineering records, and design validation testing.
- Communicate technical information clearly through presentations, documentation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Perform other non-routine engineering duties and assignments as needed.
What We’re Looking For

- 5–7 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience, preferably in product development or a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with 2D and 3D mechanical design tools; AutoCAD and SolidWorks experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to apply engineering principles to material selection, process development, qualification testing, and data analysis.
- Experience working with R&D, sourcing, manufacturing, and/or product management teams.
- Experience developing or improving electronic or connected-device products is preferred.
- Practical machine-shop experience and a strong understanding of manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of extrusion or other relevant manufacturing processes is a plus.
- Experience or demonstrated skill in industrial design and design-for-manufacturing principles.
- Strong communication, presentation, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to influence decisions, collaborate across functions, and help move projects forward.
- Creative, practical, and entrepreneurial approach to engineering challenges.
Why Join Monnit
