Part-Time Contract Luthier Wanted – Monkton Guitars
Monkton Guitars is seeking an experienced contract luthier to support our growing brick-and-mortar guitar shop in Broomfield, Colorado. We work with serious players, collectors, and working musicians and are looking for someone who takes pride in precision, tone, and craftsmanship.
This is a 1099 contractor position, ideal for an independent luthier looking for consistent shop work without full-time commitment.
Responsibilities
• Professional guitar setups (electric, acoustic, bass)
• Fret work including leveling, crowning, and dressing
• Nut and saddle work
• Pickup installs, wiring, and basic electronics
• Diagnosis and repair of common playability issues
• Occasional structural or cosmetic repairs (experience-dependent)
Requirements
• Proven experience as a luthier or guitar technician
• Strong attention to detail and consistency
• Ability to work independently and meet agreed turnaround times
• Professional communication and respect for customer instruments
Preferred (but not required)
• Experience with higher-end or boutique instruments
• Finish touch-up or light restoration experience
• Familiarity with modern and vintage specs
