Senior Occupational Therapist

Position Summary
The Senior Occupational Therapist serves as an advanced clinician and mentor who supports the development of occupational therapists throughout Monkey Mouths. This role partners closely with the OT Clinical Manager to promote clinical excellence, evidence-based practice, and consistency across all clinics.
The Senior OT maintains a patient caseload while dedicating a portion of their time to mentoring therapists, supporting clinical competency, assisting with onboarding, and helping elevate the quality of care throughout the organization.
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but serves as a trusted clinical resource for therapists and clinic leadership.
Essential Responsibilities
Clinical Excellence
- Maintain a high-quality patient caseload utilizing evidence-based practice.
- Demonstrate exceptional clinical reasoning and documentation.
- Model best practices in evaluation, treatment planning, and family education.
- Assist with complex patient cases and clinical problem-solving.
Therapist Mentorship
- Mentor occupational therapists through observation, coaching, and feedback.
- Provide support to new graduate therapists during onboarding.
- Assist therapists in developing clinical confidence and independence.
- Help therapists improve clinical reasoning rather than simply providing treatment ideas.
- Serve as a resource for challenging patient cases.
Clinical Training
- Assist the OT Clinical Manager with discipline-specific training initiatives.
- Participate in competency development and skills validation.
- Help create treatment resources and educational materials.
- Present occasional in-services or continuing education sessions.
- Promote consistency in treatment approaches across all clinics.
Quality & Compliance
- Support documentation quality through peer review and coaching.
- Reinforce Monkey Mouths' clinical standards and best practices.
- Assist with implementation of new clinical initiatives.
- Identify trends that may require additional education or support.
Collaboration
- Partner with Clinic Directors to support therapist development.
- Communicate regularly with the OT Clinical Manager regarding therapist strengths and opportunities.
- Collaborate with Speech, ABA, and leadership teams to improve interdisciplinary care
Qualifications
- Current Texas Occupational Therapy license
- Minimum 5 years pediatric occupational therapy experience
- Demonstrated excellence in clinical practice
- Strong communication and coaching abilities
- Passion for teaching and developing other therapists
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced certifications or specialty training
- Experience mentoring therapists or fieldwork students
- Strong knowledge of pediatric evidence-based practice
- Experience presenting continuing education or clinical training
