A prestigious global asset manager is seeking a deeply technical Risk Developer to join its core Risk Technology team in New York. This is a newly created role driven by internal demand and the success of existing risk tooling that’s become integral to firm-wide decision-making.
This is a rare opportunity to work within a lean, high-impact team reporting directly into the Chief Risk Officer, with a mandate to scale and extend tools that are already disrupting legacy workflows across the firm. The position includes high visibility across senior leadership, with direct input into firmwide risk infrastructure.
The team operates at the intersection of technology and risk, enabling strategy, reporting, and analytics. It is embedded within the global Risk group, but functions as a fast-moving engineering team. The culture is collaborative and intellectually curious, with a strong emphasis on communication and ownership.
Responsibilities:
- Build and scale proprietary tools used for attribution, PnL decomposition, exposure analytics, and board-level risk reporting.
- Work as a full-stack technologist, building front-to-back solutions that leverage the firm's data platforms, cloud infrastructure, UI frameworks, and DevOps toolchain.
- Work directly with risk managers, PMs, and technologists to translate evolving requirements into scalable systems.
- Apply deep knowledge of computer science concepts such as memory management, data structure implementation, and concurrency expertise to optimize system performance.
- Handle and process large amounts of data efficiently, ensuring data integrity and optimal performance.
Ideal Candidate
- 8 years of experience, with 4 years in developing Risk and/or Front Office tools and analytics.
- Solid foundations in data structures, algorithms, and concurrency.
- Expert-level proficiency in Python OR demonstrated mastery in C#, C , Java (with an ability to switch rapidly to Python)
- Familiarity with traditional relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
- Exposure to specialized or cloud-based database solutions (e.g., Snowflake).
