Under direct supervision of the Operations Manager, the Production Manager is responsible for building and maintaining the daily schedule, working closely with supervision to support production, & maintaining production and quality standards.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Embraces the 1 T.E.A.M. culture.
- Creates and manages daily production schedules.
- Coordinates with warehouse and maintenance teams.
- Adjust plans based on machine availability and workforce capacity.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Implement safety protocols on the production floor.
- Conduct daily safety checks and ensure PPE usage.
- Train operators on safe machine handling and emergency procedures.
- Report and investigate incidents or near-misses.
- Lead production teams and shift supervisors.
- Organize daily work assignments and shift schedules.
- Motivate and mentor operators to achieve performance targets.
- Address personnel issues and supports team development.
- Execute production plans in alignment with operational goals.
- Identifies and resolve bottlenecks or inefficiencies.
- Implement process improvements on the shop floor.
- Track daily performance metrics and reports to Operations Manager.
- Monitor product quality during production.
- Implement corrective actions for defects or deviations.
- Work with QA team to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Encourage operator feedback for process improvement.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Manages and supports a team of Supervisors, Team Leads, and Teammates in Plant Operations.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include development of employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance and disciplining employees.
- Understanding of steel processing operations, including slitting, shearing, and material handling.
- Solid knowledge of production scheduling in a high-volume steel service environment.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and safety standards specific to steel manufacturing and handling.
- Strong grasp of quality control requirements and industry specifications for steel products.
- Experience with inventory management and optimizing material flow.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor production teams to build skills and support operational excellence.
- Strong analytical skills for identifying bottlenecks and driving process improvements.
- Clear and effective communication skills for coordinating with operations, maintenance, and logistics teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability and willingness to enforce safety protocols and promoting a zero-incident culture.
- Track record of implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ability to train and mentor team members to build skills and support operational excellence.
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field, a plus.
- Three to five years of experience in a supervisory or management role within a production or manufacturing environment.
- Steel industry knowledge and experience, a plus

- The work environment will consist of 30% office / 70% production floor.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually medium to high.
