Job Overview
Monarch Medical Transport is seeking professional and reliable MAV Drivers to transport wheelchair-bound and mobility-limited patients to medical appointments, dialysis, therapy, and interfacility destinations.
This is a non-emergent, patient-focused role that requires safe driving, compassionate care, and consistent professionalism.
As a MAV Driver, you will operate a company wheelchair van, assist patients with mobility needs, ensure safe loading/unloading, and provide courteous service to both patients and facilities.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a Mobility Assistance Vehicle (MAV) in accordance with NJ OEMS 8:40 rules.
- Assist patients with limited mobility, including secure wheelchair loading, locking systems, and lifting support when needed.
- Provide professional, respectful assistance from door-to-door, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Verify trip details, confirm destinations, and communicate effectively with dispatch.
- Maintain clean, stocked, and ready vehicles; report equipment or vehicle concerns promptly.
- Complete required paperwork or mobile documentation accurately (training provided).
- Follow all Monarch policies, traffic laws, HIPAA rules, and facility guidelines.
- Maintain professional appearance, uniform, and customer-service standards during every transport.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- NJ MAV Certificate (or willingness to complete training—Monarch may assist eligible candidates).
- BLS Provider or CPR certification (required before completion of training).
- Ability to safely lift, push, and pull patients in wheelchairs and assist with transfers.
- Strong customer-service skills and ability to work with elderly, disabled, and medically fragile clients.
- Reliability, punctuality, and professionalism are essential.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous work as a MAV driver, medical transport driver, or healthcare support role.
- Experience using wheelchair tie-down systems, mobility equipment, and lift mechanisms.
- Familiarity with long-term care facilities, dialysis centers, and rehabilitation clinics.
