Job Overview
Monarch Medical Transport is seeking dedicated Emergency Medical Responders (EMRs) to support our non-emergent ambulance and medical transport operations. EMRs at Monarch work alongside EMTs to provide safe, compassionate, and professional care during interfacility transports, routine medical appointments, dialysis transports, discharges, and contracted facility transports.
This role is ideal for someone beginning their EMS career who wants hands-on field experience in a structured, professional environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist EMTs with patient care during non-emergent transports within NJ OEMS EMR scope of practice.
- Provide basic patient assessments including vital signs, patient history, and general well-being checks.
- Assist with patient movement, positioning, lifting, and safe transfers using stretchers, wheelchairs, and mobility equipment.
- Ensure patient comfort and safety during transport while maintaining professionalism at all times.
- Support EMTs with oxygen delivery, bleeding control, and basic first aid interventions within EMR scope.
- Maintain unit readiness, including checking equipment, stocking supplies, and ensuring cleanliness.
- Communicate professionally with dispatch, facilities, patients, and staff.
- Uphold all Monarch policies, safety rules, and NJ OEMS regulations.
Requirements
- Valid NJEMR certification
- Valid BLS Provider certification
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record (for driving assignments).
- Ability to lift, move, and safely transfer patients and equipment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work calmly with diverse patient populations.
- Professional appearance, reliability, and willingness to learn.
Preferred
- Experience in EMS, healthcare, facility transport, or patient care (not required).
- Experience using mobility devices such as stair chairs, wheelchairs, and stretchers.
- Strong customer-service approach and comfort interacting with long-term care residents, dialysis patients, and rehabilitation centers.
