Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and creative Memory Care Activities Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing engaging activities for residents with memory-related conditions, enhancing their quality of life and promoting cognitive stimulation.
- Develop and coordinate a diverse range of activities tailored to the needs and abilities of memory care residents
- Create and maintain a monthly activities calendar, ensuring a balance of physical, cognitive, social, and recreational programs
- Conduct individual and group activities that promote cognitive stimulation and social interaction
- Assess residents' interests, abilities, and needs to customize activity plans
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure activities align with residents' care plans
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and progress
- Train and supervise activity assistants and volunteers
- Manage activity supplies and budget
- Organize special events and outings for residents, considering their unique needs and safety requirements
- Educate families about the importance of activities in memory care and involve them when appropriate
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Gerontology, or related field preferred
- Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) certification preferred
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in memory care or senior living activities
- Demonstrated knowledge of memory care best practices and age-appropriate activities for seniors with memory impairments
- Strong understanding of Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to plan and coordinate engaging activities for individuals with varying cognitive abilities
- Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Creativity and problem-solving abilities
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with seniors
- Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
