Primary Purpose:
Provides support to the instructional process as a teacher in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) and literacy initiatives, contributing to the overall academic and personal development of middle school students.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas Teacher certificate with required endorsements, math emphasis preferred
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
- [Physical Education Teachers: Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) certification from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or similar nationally recognized association (to be maintained while holding the position)]
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Passion for STEAM education and working with middle school students
- Demonstrates strong oral and written communication, facilitation, and presentation skills
- Knowledge of accepted instructional techniques and methods for working with children
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to produce accurate work and complete assignments with minimal supervision
- Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents, and community members
- Knowledge of applicable Federal and State laws, district procedures, and Board policies

Experience:
- Three years’ experience as a teacher
- Any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that meets minimum requirements
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Implements STEAM curriculum with hands-on activities and projects that promote creativity and critical thinking
- Helps organize and maintain STEAM materials, equipment, and resources, ensuring they are easily accessible for students
- Facilitates small group sessions to provide additional guidance and support to students in understanding STEAM concepts
- Prepares materials and equipment for STEAM lessons and projects, and ensures proper storage and organization after each session
- Assists students with basic technology skills, troubleshooting, and using digital tools related to STEAM activities
- Work closely with math and science teachers to align STEAM activities with the overall curriculum and provide feedback on student progress
- Fosters a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere that encourages curiosity, exploration, and teamwork
- Is responsible for discharging instructional and non-instructional school-related activities in a thorough and timely manner
- Acts as a supportive and contributing member of the professional staff by participating in group decision making, and contributing to the development of a positive, cooperative educational environment
- Evaluates, provides, and maintains accurate reports and records of individual student progress on a regular basis; this includes accurate attendance records, grade reports, and special program requirements. Identifies and refers unusual student behavior to the appropriate specialists
- Reports any student injury or illness or injury to self on school grounds or at school events to the site nurse and principal
- Enforces and follows the school and district approved discipline plan
- Is responsible for the supervision of students at all times on school grounds or at school events
- Advises administration in accordance with established policies and completes all required forms accurately and in a timely manner.
- Accounts and maintains inventory for classroom, school and district property as required
- Advises administration of needed repairs, replacements and/or unsafe building conditions as soon as they occur
- Reports to work daily at the times assigned and remains on duty through the time prescribed Submits and justifies purchasing recommendations to support and enhance the instructional program to the Site Principal or designee
- Interprets and communicates school policies and programs to students and parents
Student Growth and Development
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
- Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
- Be a positive role model for students; support mission of school district.
Classroom Management and Organization
- Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
Communication
- Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
Professional Growth and Development
- Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
- Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
