What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician position at Monahan Filaments?
We are seeking a reliable Maintenance Technician to support our monofilament extrusion facility on our night shift. You will keep our extruders, quench tanks, ovens and collection reels running safely and efficiently. This role focuses heavily on mechanical upkeep with foundational electrical trouble-shooting to minimize production downtime.
Key responsibilities:
- Equipment repair: Troubleshoot and fix mechanical, pneumatic, and basic hydraulic issues on extrusion lines
- Electrical support: Diagnose & repair basic electrical components, including replacing heater bands, checking low-voltage control circuits, &safely working with industrial power up to 480V
- Preventative maintenance: Conduct scheduled checks, lubricate moving parts, and align rollers
- Emergency response: Respond quickly to line stoppages, breakage causes or mechanical jams to restore production
- Safety compliance: Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, especially Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and Arc Flash as well as maintain a clean workspace
Qualifications:
- Experience: 2-4 years of hands-on industrial manufacturing maintenance experience, ideally working with plastics processing or extrusion machinery
- Electrical skills: Demonstrated working knowledge of basic electrical diagnostics (multimeter use, reading wiring schematics, and troubleshooting single/three-phase circuits)
- Physical demands: Ability to stand for long periods, bend, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs
- Education: High school diploma or GED; vocational or technical training in industrial maintenance is preferred
