Duties
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control protocols are strictly followed
- Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging, including 3D scans when applicable
- Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Perform vital signs assessments and document medical history to support comprehensive patient care
- Support dental reception duties by scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and managing patient flow efficiently
- Maintain inventory of dental supplies and sterilize instruments according to infection control standards
Experience
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a busy dental clinic setting with knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation
- Hands-on experience with chairside assisting across various specialties including pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics
- Skilled in taking X-rays, medical imaging, and operating 3D scanners when required
- Strong understanding of infection control procedures and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to medical records confidentiality and data security
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages, including pediatrics, providing compassionate care while supporting their comfort throughout procedures
