Position SummaryThe Dietitian is responsible for assessing the nutritional care of the residents. You will advise Administration and the Food Service Director on all clinical aspects of the Food Service Department to ensure our residents receive optimal care.
Key ResponsibilitiesNutritional Assessment: Monitor lab values, consumption patterns, weight maintenance, and food/drug interactions.
Clinical Documentation: Ensure appropriate documentation of nutritional assessments to the MDS and resident care plans.
Collaboration: Maintain two-way communication with the Administrator, Food Service Director, and Nursing Management.
Routine Visits: Visit the facility regularly to manage the complexity of the nutritional program.
Training & Education: Provide diet instruction for families and residents, and lead in-service training for dietary staff.
Compliance: Ensure the facility adheres to legal, safety, health, and sanitation codes.
Certification: Must be a Registered Dietitian.
Experience: Previous experience in a long-term care health setting or as a consulting dietitian is required.
Preferred: Experience working with the geriatric population.
Skills: Proficiency in menu writing with therapeutic extensions and patient assessment.
Technical: Basic computer skills and experience with policy/procedure review.
Health: Must provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test.
