The Dishwasher is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen and dishware area, supporting the culinary team by ensuring all dishes, utensils, pots & pans are cleaned, sanitized, and ready for service. This role plays a key part in keeping operations smooth in a busy restaurant environment.
Responsibilities:
-Wash, sanitize, and dry all dishware, glassware, utensils, pots, pans, etc., using dishwashing machines and hand-washing where needed
-Sort and soak heavily soiled items; pre-rinse and scrape before washing
-Operate and maintain dish machines, three-compartment sinks, and related equipment
-Restock clean items in their proper locations so line cooks and servers have what they need
-Keep dishwashing area, storage, and back-of-house clean and organized
-Monitor cleaning supplies, detergents, sanitizers; inform management when supplies are low or equipment is broken
-Assist with general kitchen cleanliness as necessary
-Follow health, safety, and sanitation guidelines at all times
Requirements:
-Prior experience in a restaurant or kitchen environment is preferred but not strictly required (entry-level acceptable if trainable)
-Familiarity with basic sanitation and safety rules (food safety, proper chemical handling)
-Ability to stand for long periods; bend, reach, lift, carry; transporting dishes or pots that may weigh up to approx 25-50 lbs or more
-Able to work in hot, wet, and sometimes noisy or confined space environment
-Punctual, reliable, able to follow instructions and work well as part of a team
