Under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing Services, the staff nurse in the Operating Room will serve as a circulator, providing independent nursing care and other essential services to ensure the Operating Room functions smoothly on an as-needed (PRN) basis. Your role is critical in maintaining a sterile environment, monitoring patients' vital signs, and coordinating the surgical team to ensure efficient and safe operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains a courteous and professional manner in dealing with patients, visors, medical staff, fellow employees, and students.
- Implements clinical and technical aspects of care.
- Demonstrates understanding of and adheres to the Department’s and Hospital Infection Control policies.
- Follows all policies and standards relative to maintenance of privacy, safety protocols, complaint resolution, respectful workplace, etc.
- Prepare the OR environment, ensuring sterility and availability of necessary equipment and supplies
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding surgical procedures and postoperative care instructions
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ADN or BSN).
EXPERIENCE
- One-year experience in an Operating Room experience preferred
SKILLS
- Ability to work and deal effectively with others.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and adapt to each provider.
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
- Have effective communication and teamwork abilities
LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Current RN License from the WV Board of Nursing.
- ACLS certification or obtained within 6 months of employment
- CPR is required.
