Job Summary
The Quality Assurance Analyst must be a highly skilled editor with proven experience in the medical transcription profession. Demonstrates fair and unbiased judgment with the ability to review and coordinate a random review process of documents. This includes the process of monitoring, measuring, and reporting transcribed documents by providers using Dragon software.

Quality of Work
Established track record of producing work that is highly accurate, demonstrates attention to detail and reflects well on the organization. Is personally committed to high quality work and encourages others to have similar standards. Follows policies and procedures that contribute to the efficiency of the Health Information Management department. Provides timely and consistent feedback to providers to eliminate repetition of errors, build skills, and mentor the providers on documentation guidelines. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including grammar, punctuation, and style to provide consistent quality feedback to the providers.
Understanding Roles and Responsibilities
Takes responsibility for clarifying job responsibilities, including the need to understand performance standards and other expectations. Communicates with supervisor regularly to ensure that there is no misunderstanding about how performance will be measured. Meet criteria for quality reviews. Through a standard randomized selection process, select reports by providers using Dragon software for review. Review documents and apply industry-specific standards provided by current resources and references. Demonstrates ability to work in all specialties. Proficient in referencing, researching, reporting, tracking, and monitoring. Ability to multi-task with multiple priorities and time frames. Ability to work independently with minimal or no supervision.

Recognize, interpret, and evaluate inconsistencies, discrepancies, and inaccuracies in the medical dictation, and appropriately clarify and/or report them as required. Demonstrate an understanding of the medicolegal implications and risk management responsibilities of the healthcare record, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations.

Ensures that providers understand their level of accountability, including what they are responsible to deliver and are expected to undertake using the Dragon software. Directs efforts toward quality documentation, including providing procedures, training, and resources for providers using Dragon software. Ensure standards for quality documentation are met.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Medium WorkExerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently and/or up to 10 lbs. forces constantly.
Three (3) years of experience working in a hospital setting with demonstrated knowledge and expertise in transcription. Knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. Knowledge of Process Improvement and appropriate statistical tools for analysis of data. Excellent presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to work in all specialties. Advanced knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, disease processes, signs and symptoms, medications, and laboratory values. In-depth knowledge of medical transcription guidelines (The AHDI Book of Style for Medical Transcription) and practices. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including grammar, punctuation, and style to provide consistent quality feedback to the transcriptionists, editors, and supervisors. Experience working directly with physicians. Ability to organize and prioritize responsibilities. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality relative to sensitive information.
