Position: Executive Director

Status: Full-Time, Exempt

Reports to: President and CEO

Overview:

Momentum WORK, Inc. is seeking an Executive Director to oversee the operation of our Agency’s programs and services. This individual will work directly with the CEO and the Board of Directors to ensure the effective implementation of policies, the development of new initiatives, and the management of day-to-day operations. The Executive Director will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our organization, providing leadership to a diverse staff, and ensuring the highest quality of service to the people we support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assures that Agency operations and programs are in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Evaluates community needs, resources and legislation that affect the Agency and its constituency
  • Has the authority to make rules, not in conflict with the law or Agency policy, and decides matters of administrative and supervisory detail in connection with the operation and maintenance of the organization
  • Prepares and/or assists in the preparation of the agenda for regular board meetings
  • Attends Board meetings as requested
  • Takes part in board and committee meeting discussion as appropriate
  • Supervises the implementation of all policies, rules and applicable regulations
  • Hires and terminates staff in accordance with Agency policies and procedures and applicable federal and state laws and regulations
  • Evaluates and supervises Program and Administrative Directors, and oversees the performance evaluation and supervision of Agency personnel
  • Ensures that program quality is maintained and enhanced
  • Directs administrative staff in their assignments and duties
  • Directs, as needed, all other staff in the performance of their duties
  • Directs the preparation of the annual budget
  • Approves and directs purchases and expenditures within established limits
  • Provides information regarding purchases and expenditures
  • Represents the organization as its Executive Director in all dealings with other public and private organizations, individuals and the general public
  • Promotes good public relations in the community
  • Provides direction to the Director of Marketing/PR related to philanthropy, grant writing and fundraising
  • Develops short-range (one year) goals for the organization
  • Works to prepare a long-range plan for the organization
  • Reports regularly to the CEO or designee(s) on the progress toward organizational objectives, financial status of the organization and other issues of concern
  • Prepares and/or supervises the preparation of a wide range of fiscal, programmatic, personnel and operational reports
  • Initiates and directs the development of programs and services
  • May provide direct services, including working with direct care staff to develop, implement, and monitor specific behavioral programs for individuals served
  • Coordinates psychological, psychiatric and health services in collaboration with professionals
  • May participate in interdisciplinary staff and team meetings as necessary
  • Ensures that staff are properly trained in accordance with Agency policy and regulation
  • Ensures that work environments meet safety and health standards and employees utilize safe work practices
  • Responsible for meeting federal and state health and safety standards
  • Documents employee related issues
  • Attends and participates in in-service training, staff meetings, and other activities to facilitate professional development
  • Works cooperatively with others including all staff, supervisors, co-workers, administrators, individuals served, community professionals, customers, vendors and the public
  • Participates in professional and community organizations
  • Knowledge and use of technology
  • Works effectively with Agency volunteers maximizing the volunteers’ experience while meeting the needs of individuals served and the programs
  • Assumes other duties, responsibilities and special projects as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business, social services, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • At least 5 years of experience in senior management, preferably in organizations serving individuals with disabilities.
  • Proven leadership skills in managing staff, developing programs, and overseeing operations.
  • Strong communication skills and experience working with diverse groups of people.
  • Ability to manage a budget, read financial statements, and use basic accounting software.
  • Experience with crisis management and safety protocols.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to go up and down stairs
  • Ability to speak, read, hear, and understand technical written material
  • The employee is frequently required to climb, stoop, twist, or bend and lift up to fifty (50) pounds, using proper body mechanics to minimize injuries to self and people served
  • Full awareness of environmental stimuli
  • Ability to implement Crisis Management, Safety & ProAct techniques (training included)

Additional Information:

  • Must possess a valid California Driver’s License and maintain an acceptable driving record.
  • Certification in CPR/First Aid (Training provided).
