Operations Manager

The Momentum Network

Chattanooga, TN | Full-Time | In Person

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

Compensation: commensurate with relevant experience

About The Momentum Network

The Momentum Network is a Christ-centered nonprofit that empowers single mothers and pregnant students to complete college, build stability, and create strong futures for themselves and their children through coaching, housing support, life-skills development, childcare partnerships, financial empowerment, community, and practical resources.

Position Summary

The Operations Manager is the day-to-day operational leader of The Momentum Network, accountable for managing staff, systems, budget, facilities, and internal operations. This role reduces the CEO's involvement in daily management by owning internal operations, maintaining accountability, strengthening infrastructure, and cultivating a Christ-centered team culture—allowing the CEO to focus on fundraising, strategy, and external partnerships.

Who Thrives in This Role

We are seeking an experienced operational leader who has successfully managed the administrative and operational side of a small business, professional practice, ministry, or nonprofit. The ideal candidate has directly supervised employees and volunteers, operated with significant independence, made day-to-day operational decisions without constant oversight, and built processes that create organizational capacity.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Systems

Own daily business operations including systems, processes, facilities, vendors, schedules, and workflows. Identify gaps and lead improvements that increase clarity, efficiency, and staff effectiveness. Implement operational improvements, develop SOPs, and ensure internal tools and policies are used consistently. Attention to detail is important - In your application, please share your favorite Bible verse and why it's meaningful to you.

Staff & Team Management

Manage staff, volunteers, interns, and contractors by setting priorities, tracking follow-through, maintaining accountability, and resolving operational issues. Ensure clear expectations, address performance issues, conduct coaching conversations, and escalate only significant personnel, safety, or compliance matters to the CEO.

Budget & Facilities

Oversee operational budget tracking, expenses, purchasing, vendor payments, and contracts. Manage facility operations to ensure spaces are safe, clean, welcoming, and functional. Coordinate maintenance, repairs, vendors, and property management independently.

CEO Partnership

Convert the CEO's vision and strategic priorities into clear plans and execution. Protect CEO time by managing operational details, leading preparation for meetings and events, and identifying decisions requiring CEO involvement.

Culture & Faith Leadership

Cultivate a Christ-centered staff culture marked by humility, integrity, excellence, and grace. Lead staff devotions and prayer. Model biblical conflict resolution, personal responsibility, and healthy accountability.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years managing operations for a small business, professional practice, ministry, or nonprofit
  • Direct experience supervising employees and volunteers with responsibility for accountability and performance management
  • Experience overseeing budgets, expenses, vendor relationships, and facility operations
  • Practicing Christian faith with ability to lead staff devotions and prayer in alignment with biblical and organizational values.
  • Strong judgment, discretion, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to hold people accountable with grace and clarity
  • Comfort working independently in a growing nonprofit environment
  • Proficiency with workplace technology
