- Deliver individual and group counseling sessions utilizing evidence-based practices such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and behavioral therapy techniques.
- Facilitate crisis intervention and crisis management to ensure patient safety during acute episodes or emotional distress.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, social workers, family members, and community resources to coordinate comprehensive care plans.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation, including progress notes, treatment records, and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Utilize clinical counseling skills for addiction medicine, PTSD care, and behavioral health interventions to support recovery goals.
- Stay current with research developments in addiction counseling, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and best practices for behavioral health treatment.
Requirements
- Valid certification as an Addictions Counselor or equivalent credential from an accredited organization.
- Proven experience in addiction counseling, mental health counseling, or related clinical settings such as hospitals or community clinics.
- Strong knowledge of psychotherapeutic modalities including motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), applied behavior analysis (ABA), and behavior management strategies.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, ICD coding systems (ICD-9/10), and medical documentation standards.
- Experience conducting patient assessments, diagnostic evaluations, case management, and intake procedures in behavioral health environments.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage patients effectively during individual or group therapy sessions.
