Responsibilities Include
Production Improvement & Process Optimization
- Analyze production processes and identify opportunities to reduce material usage, improve efficiency, and lower operating costs.
- Track and evaluate solvent consumption data to help optimize cleanup procedures and minimize waste.
- Use statistical tools and process data to establish performance standards and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support Lean Manufacturing activities, including visual management improvements and performance metric tracking.
- Assist with the development and implementation of new manufacturing processes, operating procedures, and safety documentation.
- Complete Lean Six Sigma Yellow or White Belt certification training.
- Participate in safety improvement projects focused on reducing workplace hazards and enhancing employee safety.
- Lead cross-functional teams of operators and engineers to identify and eliminate potential exposure risks within the manufacturing environment.
- Gain hands-on experience applying EHS principles in a large-scale chemical manufacturing facility.
- Develop tools, dashboards, and reports that improve communication, workforce planning, and operational visibility.
- Create digital solutions that help production teams manage certifications, staffing needs, and overtime scheduling.
- Assist in the design and implementation of real-time performance dashboards for operational meetings and decision-making.
- Support the organization and centralization of critical engineering and production documents through SharePoint and other digital platforms.
- Complete certification training on multiple production processes within the department.
- Work alongside experienced engineers and production professionals to gain hands-on manufacturing experience.
- Document observations, recommendations, and project progress while developing practical engineering problem-solving skills.
- Present project findings and recommendations to site leadership and engineering teams.
The following are required for the role
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to work safely and effectively in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with strong skills in Excel for data analysis, reporting, and process improvement projects.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams.
- The candidate must be actively enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at the time of application and for at least one semester following the conclusion of the internship.
- The candidate is expected to be available 40 hours a week for a period of 10-12 weeks between the months of May and August.
