What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior High 7th & 8th Grade Science Teacher position at Momence Junior High School?
Qualifications:
- Thorough understanding of pedagogy and the best practices of education with a focus on the Illinois Learning Standards for Science(NGSS).
- Ability to design lessons that teach curriculum in an engaging manner, applying various teaching methods
- Strong supervisory and classroom management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to maintain professionalism
- Proficient with Google Suite or related software
Responsibilities:
- Plans, organizes, and implements Science curriculum appropriate for students in the 7/8th grade
- Plans and develops an engaging, age-appropriate course of study in the classroom, adhering to educational best practices and state and school district curriculum guidelines
- Designs and presents individual lesson plans using a variety of teaching techniques that appeal to various learning styles and methods
- Prepares materials for lessons, assignments, and tests; evaluates and grades student performance
- Monitors students’ progress throughout the year and evaluates preparedness for the upcoming grade level; communicates all progress and concerns with professionalism to guardians and, as appropriate, students, other faculty, staff, and/or administrators; builds and maintains positive rapport and communication with guardians
- Recognizes and supports diversity and equity in support of school and district initiatives
- Enjoy working with a diverse group of students of different socio-economic backgrounds
- Participates in faculty meetings, educational conferences, in-service opportunities, workshops, and other training seminars as required
- This position directly reports to the school principal and functionally reports to the other school administrators and district directors
- Performs additional related duties within the scope of this position
Salary Range- $42,020-84,799
Coaching/Extra-Curricular opportunities may be available. Reports to Building Administration
