POSITION – JOHN DEERE MIDDLE SCHOOL ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
Class II – Ten Month Position (200 days)
The Middle School Administrative Assistant is responsible for performing a variety of administrative assistant duties.
Principal COORDINATES OR WORKS WITH:
Assistant Principal General Public
Parents & Students
No one Board of Education
Vendors
Various school district personnel
- Types and distributes student and faculty bulletins and various memos
- Lists absent students and telephones parents
- Obtains homework assignments for absent students
- Maintains school files/cum folders; requests and sends records
- Assists with computer scheduling of students
- Administers first aid to students
- Types and mails suspension letters, via certified mail (English and Spanish)
- Assigns and maintains key inventory
- Assigns lockers to students
- Maintains free/reduced lunch forms
- Coordinates summer school registration
- Processes attendance reports (daily & monthly)
- Prepares various annual and quarterly reports
- Schedules and maintains records for Special Education meetings
- Coordinates “Student of the Month” ceremony
- Records grades and attendance in student cum folders; prepares honor roll
- Process/make student id badges
- Interprets for Administrator(s) and Staff when the Parent Coordinator is not available, before and after school
- Performs a variety of secretarial duties, including typing, filing, receiving/screening phone calls, photocopying, assisting students/parents at counter and other duties as may be assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School with emphasis on business courses Computer
Photocopier/Fax
Calculator
One to three years of related or similar experience Duplicating equipment
Must be able to work with constant interruptions
Should have a great deal of patience and enjoy children
Must be able to interact with parents concerning various issues
Bilingual – Spanish preferred
