General Summary of the Position

Responsible for repairs and preventative maintenance to diesel, gasoline and hydraulic systems on trucks, forklifts, loaders, crane and other vehicles and equipment within the plant.

• Working knowledge in engine construction and operating principles for both gasoline and diesel engines
• Perform engine repair of both gasoline and diesel engines
• Trouble shoot, service, or repair trucks, cranes, loaders, and other equipment
• Complete repairs and maintenance in a timely manner
• Perform regular maintenance duties as outlined in maintenance schedules and as assigned by supervisor

• Perform emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance of equipment.
• Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical troubleshooting and repair on gasoline and diesel equipment and vehicles
• Work full time, Monday through Friday with frequent Saturday work

• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
• Contribute to company morale and group commitment to goals
• Other duties as assigned by Supervision

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of proper use, repair and maintenance of gasoline and diesel powered equipment and vehicles
• Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely
• Ability to work independently and as a team to complete daily activities according to work schedule
• Ability to lift, push, pull or carry objects
• Ability to lift 25 pounds regularly, 40 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionally
• Ability to work in adverse weather conditions, including heat and cold
• Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions
• Excellent attendance
• Ability to comply with all company policies, procedures and safety requirements

Education, Training and Experience

• Minimum of two years mechanical experience
• Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work.

Work Context

• Regularly works near moving objects and in climate conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and concrete
• Noise levels vary within facility. Hearing protection may be required in loud areas
• Safety/Steel toe boots, hardhat and safety glasses required when working in the plant and working outside the truck shop
