Mechanic

General Summary of the Position
Responsible for repairs and preventative maintenance to diesel, gasoline and hydraulic systems on trucks, forklifts, loaders, crane and other vehicles and equipment within the plant.

- Working knowledge in engine construction and operating principles for both gasoline and diesel engines
- Perform engine repair of both gasoline and diesel engines
- Trouble shoot, service, or repair trucks, cranes, loaders, and other equipment
- Complete repairs and maintenance in a timely manner
- Perform regular maintenance duties as outlined in maintenance schedules and as assigned by supervisor
- Perform emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance of equipment.
- Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical troubleshooting and repair on gasoline and diesel equipment and vehicles
- Work full time, Monday through Friday with frequent Saturday work
- Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
- Contribute to company morale and group commitment to goals
- Other duties as assigned by Supervision
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of proper use, repair and maintenance of gasoline and diesel powered equipment and vehicles
- Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely
- Ability to work independently and as a team to complete daily activities according to work schedule
- Ability to lift, push, pull or carry objects
- Ability to lift 25 pounds regularly, 40 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionally
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions, including heat and cold
- Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.
- Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions
- Excellent attendance
- Ability to comply with all company policies, procedures and safety requirements
Education, Training and Experience
- Minimum of two years mechanical experience
- Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work.
Work Context
- Regularly works near moving objects and in climate conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and concrete
- Noise levels vary within facility. Hearing protection may be required in loud areas
- Safety/Steel toe boots, hardhat and safety glasses required when working in the plant and working outside the truck shop
