Job Summary
The Molecular Maker Lab (MML) housed in the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate.
Primary Function of Position
Under direction of the Principal Investigator (PI) and Managing Director (MD), the computational postdoctoral candidate will assist will obtaining and analyzing high-quality DFT and molecular dynamics simulation data for small molecule analysis and the training of artificial intelligence molecular discovery platforms.
This role requires hands-on experience with chemical and biological modeling as well as a strong foundation in physical organic chemistry or computational biology. The successful candidate will demonstrate initiative, accuracy, leadership capabilities, strong communication and organizational skills in maintaining high-quality and experimental output.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency and understanding on DFT and performing calculations.
- Proficiency in python (additional programing languages are preferred).
- Proficiency in performing biology focus modeling.
- Familiarity and experience with MD simulations.
- Past project experience integrating machine learning techniques to solve biological problems.
- Past project experience building artificial intelligence platforms for biological applications.
Required Qualifications:
- PhD in Chemistry, Computer Science, Computational Biology or Related Fields.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD in Chemistry, Computer Science, Computational Biology or Related Fields with 2 years of post doctoral or industry experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to kneel, bend, and crouch regularly.
- Capable of lifting up to 45 pounds as part of routine lab work.
