JOB STATEMENT
The Production Manager oversees daily manufacturing activities to ensure products are made efficiently, in a safe environment, meeting quality standards and maintaining the production schedule.
Key Responsibilities
The production manager is responsible for coordinating and supervising daily operations that help the entire production process run smoothly and efficiently while helping control costs and reducing workflow delays.
Planning and Scheduling
- Develop production schedules, allocate resources, and ensure timely completion of production runs while meeting customer delivery requirements.
Team Leadership
- Supervise production teams, including supervisors and operators, provide coaching, conduct performance evaluations, and ensure staff are trained in safety and quality standards.
Quality and Compliance
- Maintain product quality, enforce safety protocols, and ensure compliance with industry, company, and government regulations.
Process Optimization
- Identify workflow inefficiencies, implement process improvements, and adopt lean manufacturing principles or new technologies to enhance productivity.
Budget and Cost Management
- Monitor production budgets, control labor and material costs, and optimize resource allocation to balance cost and output
Reporting and Communication
- Track production performance, report deviations, and coordinate with cross-functional teams such as procurement, engineering, finance, and senior management.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, business administration, supply chain management, or related field. Advanced degrees or certifications are advantageous
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of manufacturing processes, production planning, quality control, problem-solving methodologies and safety standards.
- Leadership and Communication: Strong people management, problem-solving, and communication skills to motivate teams and resolve operational challenges.
- Analytical and Planning Skills: Ability to analyze performance data, forecast production needs, and implement continuous improvement strategies.
- Experience: 2 years of production manager or supervision experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
- Experience with MRP or management software.
- Knowledge of regulatory and HR-specific requirements.
