Duties
- Prepare patients for CT scans by explaining procedures, positioning them correctly, and ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the process
- Operate CT imaging equipment with precision, adjusting parameters to optimize image quality based on specific diagnostic needs
- Collaborate with radiologists and physicians to interpret imaging results and assist in diagnostic evaluations
- Maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols during all procedures
- Perform specialized scans including PET (Positron Emission Tomography), mammography, DEXA (Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry), and nuclear medicine procedures as needed
- Ensure accurate documentation of procedures, patient information, and technical details for each scan performed
- Monitor patient vital signs during procedures requiring physiology knowledge or emergency room experience, providing immediate assistance if necessary
Requirements
- Certification as a Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) or equivalent licensure in diagnostic radiology with specialized training in CT technology
- BLS Required
- Proven experience operating diagnostic imaging equipment in emergency room settings or Level I/II trauma centers
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic radiology principles
- Hands-on experience with advanced imaging modalities such as PET scans, mammography, DEXA scans, sonography, and nuclear medicine techniques
- Familiarity with aseptic technique standards and infection control practices in medical imaging environments
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in fast-paced settings including urgent care and emergency medicine environments
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, healthcare providers, and team members
