The ideal candidate would possess skills in assessing and eliminating mold contamination in residential properties. This position requires physical labor, adherence to strict safety protocols, and the use of specialized equipment for containment and cleanup.Responsibilities include containing mold growth, removing contaminated materials, performing water damage mitigation, documenting work, and communicating with customers while wearing personal protective equipment. The role demands physical stamina, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety and environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Mold Containment & Removal: Design and implement containment zones, control air pressure, and safely remove mold-contaminated materials and contents.
- Water Damage Mitigation: Perform tasks related to water damage, such as water extraction and drying, which often precedes mold remediation.
- Site Setup & Demolition: Set up equipment like air movers and dehumidifiers, and perform basic demolition, such as removing drywall, baseboards, and flooring.
- Safety & PPE: Adhere to OSHA safety guidelines and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators and Tyvek suits.
- Equipment Operation: Load, unload, and operate specialized equipment and tools for mold remediation.
- Site Cleanup: Properly dispose of contaminated debris and maintain a clean, organized job site.
- Documentation: Complete required reports, documenting observations, measurements, and work completed.
- Customer Service: Interact with office personnel to explain problems, provide recommendations, and address concerns.
Skills & Qualifications
- Physical Demands: Ability to perform strenuous physical labor, lift heavy objects, and work in tight, awkward spaces.
- Technical Aptitude: Mechanical knowledge and technical skills for operating equipment and performing repairs.
- Safety Focus: Strong understanding of safety protocols, company policies, and OSHA procedures.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to assess environments, identify issues, and implement effective cleanup solutions.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills to communicate with customers and colleagues.
- Experience & Training: Prior experience in construction, water mitigation, or mold remediation is a requirement.
- Education: A high school diploma or GED is typically required.
- Certifications: Training and certification in mold remediation and handling hazardous materials are often preferred or required.
Work Environment
- Hazardous Conditions: Technicians work in various environments, including residential properties, and may encounter dust, heat, cold, and potentially toxic substances.
- Travel: The job requires travel to job sites within the state of Georgia and sometimes Tennessee.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
