What are the responsibilities and job description for the MANUFACTURING TOOLING & INTEGRATION ENGINEER position at Mold In Graphic Systems?
We are seeking a hands-on Senior Manufacturing Tooling & Integration Engineer to lead the development of fixtures, tooling, and fusion labeling equipment for Polyfuze Polymer Fusion Label technology — a permanent labeling solution engineered for polyolefin plastics. This individual will take the lead in designing and standardizing the hardware and process integrations needed for customers to adopt our labeling technology.
The role involves working directly with customer-supplied parts, 3D scanning, designing tooling in CAD, and producing build-ready documentation that we can deliver to machine manufacturers. In addition to design, this role includes field support — helping ensure successful equipment setup and operation at customer sites, and training both customers and internal team members to execute successful implementations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and assess a wide range of durable plastic parts — including reusable packaging components (pallets, bins, lids) as well as custom-molded products, housings, enclosures, and structural components
- Operate or manage 3D scanning equipment to digitize physical parts
- Use SolidWorks (or equivalent) to design tooling, fixtures, and thermal press modules
- Generate BOMs, technical drawings, and documentation with proper revision control
- Design for manufacturability: produce components that can be machined or fabricated cost-effectively
- Coordinate builds and prototype testing using in-house tools and local machine shops
- Travel to customer sites for equipment setup, troubleshooting, and hands-on implementation support
- Train customer operators on Polyfuze fusion equipment and integration best practices
- Train internal team members to become successful field implementation techs
- Provide field support for equipment maintenance, repair, and optimization
- Work with sales, engineering, and production teams to tailor equipment to specific customer need
- Develop standardized, repeatable hardware configurations that enable scalable deployment
This is a hands-on, engineering-centric role that must be performed onsite at our Clarkdale, AZ facility. The ideal candidate thrives in small, fast-moving teams and is excited by the opportunity to help scale a manufacturing technology that is solving durability, traceability, and compliance problems across multiple industries. Occasional travel is required for customer setup, training, and implementation support.
Qualifications:- 5–10 years in mechanical, manufacturing, or tooling engineering roles
- Strong CAD proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent (must not be proprietary/off-brand)
- Proven experience in tool and die design, production line support, and prototype development
- Solid understanding of machining processes, tolerances, and material selection
- Familiarity with GD&T, tolerance stack analysis, and technical documentation standards
- Experience working with CNC-machined parts, 3D printing, and sheet metal fabrication
- Comfortable communicating technical needs to vendors and machine builders
- Experience supporting field installations, troubleshooting, or hands-on equipment training
- Strong organizational skills, including revision control, BOM generation, and supplier evaluation
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with EDM, waterjet, injection molding, or rubber part fabrication
- Experience in the design and deployment of custom fixtures or semi-automated workcells
- Familiar with PDM systems and version-controlled engineering workflows
- Knowledge of press systems, heat sealing, or hot stamp tooling a plus
