Long Term Substitute Teacher - 5th Grade

Title:   Substitute Teacher

Minimum Qualifications:

• Appropriately licensed/certified by the Illinois State Board of Education, or
• Licensed by the Will County Regional Office of Education as a substitute teacher 
• Holds a Substitute Teacher Authorization Letter issued by the Will County Regional Office of Education

 Accountable to:

• Building Administrator(s)

 Primary Objective:

• This position wil begin on February 9, 2026 and continue through the end of the 2025-2026 school year, May 29, 2026.
• To temporarily assist teachers/providers in creating a flexible elementary grade program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth, motivating pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for elementary grade education in accordance with each pupil’s ability

 Evaluation:

• Per the Board of Education’s policy on the evaluation of Educational Support Personnel

 Essential Job Functions:

1. Teach district approved curricula
2. Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district
3. Execute the lesson plans issued by the regular teacher/provider
4. Translate lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences
5. Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere
6. Evaluate pupils’ needs, progress, and achievement
7. Provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of the student
8. Meet the standards of professional, ethical, and confidential conduct
9. Other duties as assigned

 Requirements:

• Bending, carrying, climbing, must be able to travel between job sites, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, sitting, standing, and walking
• Must be able to occasionally lift, move, or push items of 50 lbs., such as assisting children or moving/rearranging furniture
• Must be able to supervise students in all types of weather, meet multiple demands from several people, and interact with the public and other staff

 Working Conditions:

• Includes extremes of temperature and humidity
• Hazards include stairs and communicable diseases
