What are the responsibilities and job description for the Temporary - Groundskeeper position at Mohican North Star Casino?
Position: PHGC Groundskeeper Hourly: $17.25, Temporary, plus shift and weekend differential, if applicable. Day Shift Location: Pine Hills Golf & Supper Club Reports to: PHGC Manager
Responsibilities:
- High Maintain all grass areas, trimming and cutting back weeds from designated locations.
- Ensure all walkways and entryways are clear of debris, including snow and ice during winter months.
- Plant, maintain, and replenish outdoor plants, flowers, and planters as necessary, preventing overgrowth.
- Operate motor vehicles are equipped with plows, sweepers, chainsaws, and lawn and garden equipment.
- Schedule and perform routine maintenance on all equipment.
- Record and report any unusual or hazardous conditions to the Facilities Manager.
- Provide recommendations to management regarding ground improvements, repairs, and equipment needs.
- Communicate effectively with landscapers and supervisors.
- Change marquee signs as requested by the marketing department.
- Develop and maintain an inventory list of equipment and a maintenance repair list.
- Attend all training sessions provided by North Star Mohican Casino Resort.
- Adhere to all established rules, regulations, procedures, and policies of North Star Mohican Casino Resort & PHGC and the Maintenance Department.
- Collaborate with a diverse range of individuals.
- Attending all assigned meetings.
- Wear the approved departmental uniform.
- Demonstrate reliability and punctuality when reporting to work.
- Comply with all workplace policies, procedures, ordinances, and laws, including the Employment Handbook, Gaming Ordinance, and other relevant communications.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Education:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred; required for applicants 19 years old and under.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Mohican Nation Gaming License.
- Successful completion of a Criminal Investigation Background Check (CIB).
- A consistent attendance record is essential.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and health screening.
- Availability to work weekends, nights, and holidays.
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Courteous and friendly demeanor required.
- Previous groundskeeping experience is preferred.
- Ability to operate specified equipment.
- Capable of reading and understanding labels and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
- Willingness to work in varied and extreme weather conditions.
- Valid Wisconsin driver’s license required.
- Ability to obtain forklift certification and training.
Work Conditions:
- Lift up to 40 lbs. throughout the shift.
- Operate forklifts, vehicles, and other specified equipment.
- Capable of walking, crawling, and standing for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity to handle tools and equipment.
- Work in varied and extreme weather conditions.
- The work environment is drug-free. smoke-free, alcohol free with dust and noise levels varying by location.
