What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2nd Shift Material Handler/Forklift Operator position at Mohawk Lifts?
- Loading and unloading trucks.
- Review accuracy of incoming orders.
- Route incoming orders appropriately for stocking and storage.
- Lift material and parts, including but not limited to unloading parts from the burn table.
- Work with and around heavy manufacturing equipment, including but not limited to powered equipment.
- When requested, perform other manual work including cleanup activities, garbage removal, facility painting, and snow removal.
- Assist team members with moving and handling parts, manually or by crane use.
- Assist welders with setting up and supplying parts to the designated locations and removal of completed work from said designated location.
- Assist painters in loading and offloading parts in the paint booth and staging area, either manually or with forklift.
- Operate a forklift to load and unload pallets, load and unload freight trucks, and move materials within the facility.
- Practice and adhere to all safety requirements and guidelines. This includes but is not limited to forklift operation, proximity to other powered tools, personnel, equipment, and other workplace factors.
- Grinding responsibilities, such as utilizing electric or pneumatic hand grinders to clean pre-welded parts, welded parts, and steel parts.
- Drilling responsibilities such as utilizing magnetic drill to bore holes.
- Inspect tools prior to use to ensure efficient use and safety.
- Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Safely operate crane and/or forklift if trained and assigned.
- Daily safety inspection i.e. crane, forklift, equipment
- Perform work in a safe manner and complete all required safety inspections.
- Actively participate in cross training and continuous improvement assignments.
- Work cooperatively with coworkers including training and knowledge sharing.
- Learn new skills, techniques and equipment operation as assigned.
- Maintain clean and organized work area conditions and comply with safety requirements.
- Receive direction from team lead or another designated leader.
- May work overtime as production needs require.
- Other duties as assigned
- A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a manufacturing environment operating heavy manufacturing equipment, including but not limited to powered equipment.
- Proficient understanding of safety requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with management and co-workers.
- Must be able to understand English language and be understood.
- Must be able to work with minimum supervision.
- Forklift and overhead crane operation, as trained and assigned.
