SUMMARY: The Cage Banker is responsible for the inventory of all cash and coin from all of Akwesasne Mohawk Casino’s vendors and revenue generating departments including: Food & Beverage, Winner’s Club, Slots, Table Games, Warehouse, Kiosks & ATMs, Armored Truck Courier, Hotel, Gift Shop Bingo and Special Events. Additionally, the Cage Banker interacts with the Chipbank Cashier, Front Line Cashiers and all Cage Supervisors to generate documentation required for effective segregation of the Cage functions, as well as assist with Chipbank and front line Cashier coverage as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Exhibits a friendly, helpful and courteous manner when dealing with our guests and fellow associates.
- Exchanges cash and coin in accordance with established procedures.
- Exchanges American gaming chips for cash & coin in accordance with established procedures.
- Processes Cage Paid Out Vouchers & Received Vouchers for our Casino Management
- Collects and inventories unsecured currency and money found (cash, coin & chips) in accordance with established procedures.
- Responsible for handling cash and balancing Main Bank at the end of shift.
- Buy American and Canadian bank (verify all money in the bank including reserves)
- Hand count all loose bills, coin and clips
- Verify bulk cash, chips, checks, mutilated currency in Main Bank
- Run all inventory and accountability boards to verify that all amounts and totals are correct from previous shift.
- Verify that all paperwork is properly filled out, by previous shift’s outgoing cashier
- Process cashier turn-ins
- Make sure to verify all checks, cash, foreign exchanges and mutilated currency
- Balance reserve bank
- Payout jackpots and cancel credits that may occur during your shift
- Count down Kiosk and ATM Drops using various types of currency counting machines
- Process all change orders (valet, food and beverage and cashiers)
- Fill Kiosk and ATM cassettes
- Count and verify slot & table games drop when it comes from Soft Count using the currency counters
- Prepare bank deposit for both American and Canadian currency
- Buy and provide all Revenue generating departments with Cash banks including Bingo.
- Buy all front line windows not being used for your shift (correct any variances)
- Responsible to learn all Cage policies and procedures
SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assistant in daily cleaning, mopping, vacuuming, dusting and trash removal of all areas of the Cage department, including but not limited to, frontline, balancing area, meeting area, bathroom, Winners Club banker and offices.
- Exchanges gaming Vouchers (slot tickets) for patrons or slot attendants.
- Exchanges Gift Certificates for our guests in accordance with established procedures.
- Cashes personal Checks in compliance with approved procedures.
- Cashes Travelers Checks in compliance with approved procedures.
- Processes Credit Card, and Debit Card cash advances in compliance with approved procedures.
- Exchanges Canadian to and from American Currency in compliance with approved procedures.
- Accesses our Patron Management system to issue promotional items for our gaming patrons.
- Handles and addresses cash transaction issues/disputes as they arise.
- Responsible for balancing Chip Bank at end of shift when scheduled.
- Records any applicable federal cash transactions.
- Maintains accurate record of all fill/credit transactions.
- Follows promotional P&P’s and executes accordingly.
- Keep up to date on all promotions and events and able to relay to customers.
- Assists guests with win/loss requests and sends to Revenue Audit.
- Assist guests on the gaming floor with accessing free credit and other issues.
- Capable of handling routine customer complaints and incidents and exhibits discretion in identifying situations that require the attention of the Supervisor.
- Issue and redeem promotional comps, coupons, draw tickets, maintain daily reports using Patron Management System.
- Issue bus incentive packages and process all charter bus reservations.
- Enroll guests in Winners Club.
- Handle guest issues regarding locked PINs, lost cards, duplicate accounts and other IGT Advantage system guest situations.
- Take telephone and walk-up reservation/sales, accept cash and credit card payments, process will-call.
- Run end of shift reports at end of day for Revenue Audit.
- Record all sales using log sheets to be sent to Revenue Audit.
- Assist Bus Department with arriving bus tours. Must physically board buses, welcome passengers and explain casino amenities, promotions and programs.
- Assists Bus department with group manifests and issues bus promotional packages.
- Answers incoming telephone calls in prompt and courteous manner, and able to provide information to any inquiries.
- Maintains accurate guest information and confidentiality of all guest accounts.
- Must attend all mandatory training required by position.
- Other duties as assigned by the Cage Supervisor/ Shift Manager
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must be able to work shift work, weekends and holidays. - EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and twelve (12) to eighteen (18) months related experience.
- LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization both in person and during telephone conversations.
- MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- COMPUTER SKILLS: Must have basic computer operating skills and be able to comprehend procedures involving data entry and transaction recording as well as understand common terms used with computer systems.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long period of time; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds as well as push a wheeled cash cart across the gaming floor weighing approximately 100lbs; at times may be required to assist with pushing a large fill trolley on wheels with an approximate weight of 1000 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation. The position exists in a casino work environment where there is continuous exposure of the employee to noise and cigarette smoke from the casino floor. There is an occasional exposure to disgruntled guests.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must obtain and maintain a New York State certification and St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Gaming Class III License which requires a criminal background check to be used solely for employment purposes. Successful candidates for employment must submit to and pass a drug test for illegal substances prior to employment being confirmed. In case of a positive result, the candidate is not eligible for employment with the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort. Employment will not begin until process is complete.
