Reporting to senior leadership, this position partners closely with internal stakeholders and external advisors to support a wide range of HR functions including compliance, payroll, benefits, and employee lifecycle processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Own day-to-day HR operations, including payroll, benefits administration, onboarding, and offboarding across multiple states
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including wage and hour regulations, leave laws, and pay transparency requirements
- Administer employee benefits programs such as health insurance, 401(k), and HSA/FSA plans, including coordination of annual open enrollment
- Maintain and update employee handbook and HR policies to ensure alignment with evolving regulations and business needs
- Oversee I-9 and E-Verify compliance and maintain accurate employee records
- Serve as HRIS administrator, ensuring data integrity, reporting accuracy, and process optimization
- Coordinate performance review cycles and support merit planning processes
- Manage compliance-related training programs (e.g., harassment prevention, workplace safety)
- Administer workers’ compensation programs, including claims management and vendor coordination
- Partner with leadership and external counsel on HR compliance and risk-related matters
- Support reporting and tracking of key HR metrics, including turnover, engagement, and workforce trends
- Contribute to ongoing HR initiatives and process improvements
- 5 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 2 years in an HR leadership or management role
- Strong knowledge of multi-state employment laws and compliance requirements (California experience preferred)
- Hands-on experience with payroll, benefits administration, and HR operations
- Experience managing open enrollment and performance review cycles
- Proficiency with HRIS systems and reporting tools
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to create polished, employee-facing materials
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Bachelor’s degree required; PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar certification preferred
- A hands-on, proactive HR professional who takes ownership of processes and outcomes
- Someone who understands the “why” behind HR operations and brings a business-minded approach
