Job Summary
The Ambulatory Pharmacist at Moffitt Cancer Center is dedicated to the mission of contributing to the prevention and cure of cancer. The Ambulatory Pharmacist works within the Clinic Pharmacy (also known as Specialty Pharmacy) to provide safe, evidence-based, cost-effective, and patient centered medication management as an integral part of an interdisciplinary team. They are responsible for providing clinical pharmacy support to physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other staff when caring for patients in the ambulatory clinics. In addition to providing safe and effective drug therapy management to improve patient outcomes, this position would be responsible for performing all functions of a Registered Pharmacist including accurate dispensing, clinical interaction with the healthcare team, patient care monitoring and supervision of the pharmacy. Additionally, this position will assist in supporting the teams that are charged with obtaining insurance prior authorizations and lowering financial barriers to medications for ambulatory patients.
Essential Functions of the role:
- Perform and oversee drug distribution duties, per policy and procedures, including assessment of chemotherapy and non-chemotherapy orders for completeness and appropriateness of therapy and ensuring accurate, safe and effective dosing, validation, processing and dispensing.
- Communicates and collaborates with prescribers for drug therapy, interactions, and clinical coordinator of care and prevention of adverse events.
- Coordinates and provides medication therapy education.
- Manages the medication use process to improve workflow, quality, and safety for patients and staff.
- Supervises and directs support personnel and verifies their daily activities.
- Oversees the cost effective use of medications to ensure appropriate utilization of resources and reduce financial risk.
- Maintains competencies as specific for the depsrment and profession.
Education Requirement:
- Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy
Licensure/Certification Requirement:
- FL RPh License
