Summary
We are seeking a dynamic self-starter to fill our current opening for Custodian. The Custodian performs assigned custodial tasks, which includes but not limited to, general cleaning (restroom, offices, cafeteria, etc.), buffing, scrubbing, and the ability to perform basic tasks of vacuuming, sweeping, mopping and use of equipment such as scrubbers, extractors, and buffers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs all general required tasks as directed.
- Uses floor machines for buffing, stripping, waxing, vacuuming and carpet cleaning safely, according to proper usage.
- Performs all tasks within proper safety guidelines, company guidelines, and as directed by management.
- Follows all company policies and procedures regarding safety, customer service, proper attire, and working conditions such as hours and timekeeping.
- Performs assignments according to company schedule and as expected by customer.
- Performs janitorial/custodial tasks based on defined scope of work and customer requests. These are performed to published schedules and within explained guidelines.
- Repetitive motion involved daily may include, but not limited to, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, reaching, climbing, and squatting.

Requirements
- Basic knowledge of custodial duties and janitorial responsibilities.
- Knowledge of cleaning equipment including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and applying finishes on different flooring materials.
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques and processes. Knowledge of the qualities and uses of various cleaning, sanitizing, stripping, and waxing compounds.
- Experience in cleaning and sanitizing restrooms.
- Able to demonstrate the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions to appropriate Supervisor.
- Must be able to read, understand and follow units of measurement on product labels.
- Satisfactory personal appearance and hygiene within company guidelines.
- Demonstrated ability of maintaining janitorial equipment in a clean, safe, and operable condition.
- Ability to move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials up to 50 pounds.
- Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time to include climbing/descending stairwells and ladders.
Education and/or Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Wages commensurate with experience, starting at $20 per hour. We offer day-one benefits for medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage. We also offer 13 paid holidays, 24 hours sick pay, and two weeks’ vacation.
