Job Overview
The Laser & Folder Machine Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating CNC laser cutting and CNC folder/press brake equipment to manufacture precision metal components according to production specifications. This position requires attention to detail, the ability to read blueprints, and a commitment to quality and safety in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Duties
- Set up, calibrate, and operate CNC laser cutting and CNC folder/press brake equipment according to work orders and production schedules
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to ensure accurate fabrication
- Select appropriate machine settings based on material type and thickness
- Load and unload raw materials and finished parts using appropriate material handling equipment
- Operate laser cutting equipment to produce parts within required tolerances
- Operate folder/press brake equipment to bend and form metal parts according to engineering specifications
- Verify part dimensions using tape measures, calipers, and other measuring tools
- Inspect finished parts for accuracy, quality, and compliance with specifications
- Make machine adjustments as needed to maintain quality and production efficiency
- Perform routine machine inspections and basic preventative maintenance
- Troubleshoot minor machine issues and report equipment malfunctions or quality concerns to supervision
- Maintain production records as required
- Keep work area clean and organized in accordance with company standards
- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and PPE requirements
- Meet daily production goals while maintaining quality and safety standards
- Assist with other fabrication and production tasks as assigned
Qualifications
- Previous experience operating CNC laser cutting equipment, CNC folder/press brake equipment, or both preferred
- Experience in steel fabrication, sheet metal manufacturing, or a related production environment
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders
- Working knowledge of measuring tools including tape measures, and calipers
- Basic computer skills for operating CNC equipment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks throughout a 10-12 hour shift
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
- Ability to safely handle sheet metal materials
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with noise, dust, heat, and moving equipment
- Ability to wear required PPE
