Position Summary
The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the design, engineering, and technical integration of modular building systems within the manufacturing facility. This role oversees a team of engineers, to ensure designs are buildable, code-compliant, cost-effective, and aligned with production capabilities. The Engineering Manager plays a key role in bridging design and production, driving continuous improvement in modular construction methods.
Key ResponsibilitiesEngineering Oversight & Leadership
- Manage a team of structural, mechanical, electrical, and architectural engineers and drafters (full time employees and consultants)
- Review and approve shop drawings, fabrication details, and structural calculations for modular units.
- Ensure compliance with applicable building codes (IBC, IRC), state modular program requirements, and third-party approvals.
Collaboration with Module Design, Manufacturing & Build Teams
- Partner with production teams to ensure designs align with factory capabilities and workflows.
- Resolve technical issues that arise during manufacturing or field installation.
- Coordinate with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure materials meet engineering requirements.
- Support installation crews by providing technical guidance and stamped drawings as needed.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Develop and implement standardized engineering processes to improve efficiency and reduce errors.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs, optimize module designs, and improve quality.
- Evaluate opportunities for automation, BIM integration, and digital twin technologies in engineering workflows.
Quality & Compliance
- Maintain engineering documentation and revision control.
- Oversee structural, MEP, and architectural coordination within modular designs.
- Ensure QMS compliance and support quality audits related to engineering deliverables.
- Interface with third-party agencies, inspectors, and AHJs for plan review and approval.
QualificationsRequired
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering
- 7 years of engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of modular/off-site construction processes and building codes.
- Proven leadership and project management skills.
- Proficiency in CAD/BIM software (AutoCAD, Revit)
Preferred
- Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred (or ability to obtain in relevant states).
- Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams (structural, MEP, design).
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Experience with digital fabrication tools or modular manufacturing software.
What We Offer
Competitive Salary: The base salary for this position ranges from $90,000 - $105,000 depending on experience.
