Job Summary
The Risk & Compliance Manager will lead MODRN’s enterprise-wide risk management and compliance framework. This role ensures that
all MODRN activities—including General Construction, Contract Administration, Project Management services, Technology App development (MAi), and Real Estate Development—operate within legal, regulatory, contractual, and ethical standards. The manager will identify risks, design controls, and foster a culture of compliance across business lines while balancing innovation and operational growth.
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Risk and Compliance Analyst to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for ensuring our organization adheres to all relevant regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry standards. Your expertise will help safeguard our operations against financial and regulatory risks while promoting a culture of compliance and integrity. Responsibilities
- Key Responsibilities
1. Enterprise Risk Management
Develop and maintain a comprehensive risk management framework covering financial, operational, technological, and
reputational risks.
Perform regular risk assessments for construction projects, contract administration processes, app development, and investment
activities.
Recommend and implement mitigation strategies, policies, and insurance coverage as required.
2. Regulatory & Legal Compliance
Monitor federal, state, and local regulations impacting MODRN’s construction and development activities (e.g., OSHA, NYC
DOB, SCA, MTA, DASNY , NJ/NY MBE compliance).
Ensure adherence to data privacy, cybersecurity, and intellectual property requirements for MODRN’s technology platforms.
Maintain compliance with corporate governance, labor laws, and financial reporting standards.
Coordinate with legal counsel on contract reviews, disputes, and regulatory changes.
3. Construction & Project Compliance
Oversee site safety compliance programs, including OSHA standards, silica exposure plans, and project-specific safety
requirements.
Review subcontractor contracts and performance to ensure compliance with MWBE, prevailing wage, bonding, and insurance
requirements.
Establish and monitor procedures for submittals, RFIs, pay requisitions, and closeout documentation.
4. Technology & Data Compliance
Implement compliance standards for MAi and other MODRN technology solutions, including AI transparency, data protection,
and ethical use.
Collaborate with product teams to integrate compliance checks into software features.
Conduct risk reviews of third-party vendors, APIs, and cloud services.
5. Real Estate & Development Compliance
Ensure compliance with zoning laws, land acquisition regulations, and financing agreements for development projects.
Monitor environmental and sustainability standards for new builds and renovations.
Oversee investor and lender compliance requirements, including reporting and certifications.
6. Policy & Training
Draft, update, and enforce company-wide compliance policies and codes of conduct.
Deliver training programs for employees, subcontractors, and project partners on compliance and risk management best practices.
Create a “compliance-first” culture integrated with MODRN’s operational excellence.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Construction Management, Business, Law, or related field (Master’s or JD preferred).
7 years of experience in risk management, compliance, or banking and legal affairs (construction and/or technology sector
experience preferred).
Strong knowledge of risk management strategies, construction regulations, contract law, OSHA standards, and public agency
compliance.
Familiarity with data privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA), cybersecurity best practices, and AI/technology compliance.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
Proven ability to balance compliance needs with business innovation.
